Guitar Hero 5 Hands-on

Type: Simulation
Discription: The Guitar Hero franchise has a dizzying amount of titles under its banner. Several times a year there's a new Guitar Hero release, whether it's a band-specific game, greatest hits, or handheld versions. This fall is no exception and for the first time Activision will release three major Hero games: Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and the unproven DJ Hero. It was with all these releases in mind that I approached my demo with the question, "Why should I care about Guitar Hero 5?" I went in looking for what separates the title from the competition (namely Rock Band) and how this version of Guitar Hero stacks up against the previous ones. Master of Puppets First up was GH Mix 2.5, the updated song creator for Guitar Hero 5, sporting a few improvements that make song creation a little easier for users. If you're someone who's very familiar with software music tools like Reason or Fruity Loops, song creation in GH Mix 2.5 looks like the most sluggish and tedious way possible to make a midi track. The midi samples were re-recorded for Guitar Hero 5 and the sound quality is much better than the last title's efforts.
